A team is an operating group inside your Flow organization. It can have its own conversations, automations, knowledge, assets, members, roles, and channels. A person can belong to more than one team and have a different role in each.

Create a team

Organization administrators can create teams.
1

Open Flow Teams.

Open Settings → Flow Teams.
2

Start a new team.

Select New team.
3

Enter the details and create the team.

Enter the name, description, and conversation prefix. Then select Create team. Flow saves the team at this point. Members and Features stay Not started until the team is created.
4

Add members.

Under Members, add people, send invitations, or map a directory group. Choose the team roles they need.
5

Turn on features.

Turn on the features the team needs.
6

Save.

Select Save & finish.
The conversation prefix appears in IDs such as HELP-123. You set the prefix when you create the team. You cannot change it later in Details. You do not need single sign-on (SSO) or Directory Sync to create a team or add members manually. Group mapping requires Directory Sync; SSO alone is not enough. If it is not configured, open Members → Directory groups to see Requires Directory Sync. Organization administrators can select Set up to open Identity settings in a new tab and keep team setup open. Team Managers should ask an organization administrator to configure Directory Sync. You can also continue without mapping a group. A directory mapping enrolls the group’s existing and new members automatically. It is separate from requester accounts created when someone first messages Flow. See Syncing a group to a Flow team.

Managing a team

Open Settings → Flow Teams, then expand a team. Organization administrators can manage every team. Team Managers can manage the teams they belong to. Connect and manage Slack or Microsoft Teams under Settings → Chat. Members who arrive through a mapped directory group show a pill with the group name. Hover the pill to see the default role the group grants. You can change any member’s role, including a group member’s; the change applies even when it is lower than the group default. To return a group member to group management, choose the group’s default role again. You cannot remove a group member from the team in Flow; remove them from the group in your identity provider. Removing a direct team membership does not remove organization membership. Other team grants, including directory group mappings, still apply. Removing a directory mapping can also remove directory-managed organization access if it was the person’s only grant; see Identity and directory. Flow prevents the last Manager from being removed or downgraded through manual membership changes.
